Implementating the ATLAS TRT Geometry into ACTS 25m
Speaker: Zhiliang Chen (University of Science and Technology of China (CN))

      Discussion

Q: Which Fitter was used (p.15)? (Alex)

      A: (Xiaocong) KF

Q: Can we find the 'sub sectors' in the TGeo? (Andreas)

In a refitting setup, we don't always need all straws available, since given by pattern recognition.
More important is that the material is available.
Not necessary for this, but could be a lot faster, for using a different navigation.
Then we can describe them as boxes in our new geometry.

      C: Endcaps (Andreas)

The endcaps are a smaller problem.
Should be enough to have simple discs.
No need to check for misassignment.
So, pack the endcap straws and pack them into discs.
A: (Xiaocong) Currently problems in the geometry translation.

      C: Geometry translation (Andreas)

Make a geo model-plugin, that doesn't use gdml.
There will be a detector description workshop at the end of the month.
Maybe we can learn how to write a translation.

Q: 51 layers is maximum of hits to find? (Christian)

Shouldn't be a problem, because we usually stay below (sharp drop after 45).
Still we maybe need to tune this number.

Q: Material budget: Not bin in multiples of 32? (Christian)

A: (Andreas) Ganularity is not trivial and they won't line up.
Majority is in the frame structure.
Straws we could maybe even manage in one description.
Let's have this project follow up as a reimplimentation.
Then in a second step (after the QP) have a faster description of the track fitting.

The Implementation of an Open Drift Chamber in ACTS 25m
Speaker: Dr Tao Lin (IHEP, CAS)

      Discussion

Q: Do we see thta we need to model a shape like this in ACTS? (Andreas)

Should we deal with it in a smart enough navigation or just navigate to the surface?
Xiaocong: Depends on how larg the stereo angle is.
If it is large enough we should put it into ACTS.

The description of the surface can be created easily, but the intersection is more problematic.
But when we can intersect efficiently, it is not a problem.
So for Runge-Cutta we need to add the straiht line intersect.
Xiaocong: That is the really long term approach.

It is nice that we have a source like this around.
Could be useful to have it very clear, even with unit tests.
