Publication status

• MT28 paper accepted
• SUST waiting for feedback.
• Development to wax impregnation paper to be written in 2024.
• Dani to see with Martin if he agrees to conclude WQS paper.

Shield status and plans

• MgB2 tube order will be put on hold and we’ll come back to it in March 2024 (after we know if can make a 2 layer tube of the remaining Nippon Steel multi-layer material). Miro to contact Giovanni.
• We will produce 2 shields:
• 2 layer Nippon Steel multilayer material
• 7 layer UoM material shield.
• 2 layer tube:
• Half-moon tube made of Nippon multilayer material; Small strip (12 mm wide) junctions shall not be opposite a Hall sensor. Central former to be made of Copper.
• Louise will launch job at main work-shop. Photos to be taken at critical steps (Louise, not delegated to main workshop).
• Shim behind shield: consider reusing existing mould.
• UoM multi-layer material development:
• Larger oven being commissioned
• Test process between oven heat treatment and rolling process will be tested using copper sheet.
• Freiberg has max. 700 mm rolling length
• M. Eisterer Jc vs B of latest samples are close to Japanese material.
• Outstanding:
• Update PSI if they can use the circular NbTi/Nb/Cu shield to modify it into small diametre, thick walled, tube. Jan to send him an email in February.
• Results of HTS tape sample test by M. Eisterer taken from the round tube tested in 2017.
• Friedrich to take photographs of the brazing surface of the tape on the tube and share with Dani.

• Contact Giovanni to get an offer for the MgB2 shield (Miro).
• Follow up the offer for teh NbTi/Cu sheet, including rolling order at Freiberg and supply of Cu by CERN (Dani).
• Friedrich and team tasked with developing process to form the NbTi/Cu multilayer material into half moon shaped shield with split in centre back leg.
• Will have to accompany MME if they’re doing the forming, to avoid ending up again with something not conform (Louise).
• Nippon material left overs (2000 x ~ 200 mm). Study how a 2 layer half moon shaped shield can be made of this (Louise).
• Update PSI if they can use the circular NbTi/Nb/Cu shield to modify it into small diametre, thick walled, tube. Jan to send him an email in February.

Publications:
- MT28 (wax impregnation oriented paper) proceeding resubmited.
- SUST paper resubmited.
- Development of wax impregnation will become separate paper (on hold for time being)
- QWS write up status (Dani to check with Martin). Martin will try to derive some quantitative parameters from the FREIA test, but not before February.
