Shield status and plans
- MgB2 tube order will be put on hold and we’ll come back to it in March 2024 (after we know if can make a 2 layer tube of the remaining Nippon Steel multi-layer material). Miro to contact Giovanni.
- We will produce 2 shields:
- 2 layer Nippon Steel multilayer material
- 7 layer UoM material shield.
- 2 layer tube:
- Half-moon tube made of Nippon multilayer material; Small strip (12 mm wide) junctions shall not be opposite a Hall sensor. Central former to be made of Copper.
- Louise will launch job at main work-shop. Photos to be taken at critical steps (Louise, not delegated to main workshop).
- Shim behind shield: consider reusing existing mould.
- UoM multi-layer material development:
- Larger oven being commissioned
- Test process between oven heat treatment and rolling process will be tested using copper sheet.
- Freiberg has max. 700 mm rolling length
- M. Eisterer Jc vs B of latest samples are close to Japanese material.
- Outstanding:
- Update PSI if they can use the circular NbTi/Nb/Cu shield to modify it into small diametre, thick walled, tube. Jan to send him an email in February.
- Results of HTS tape sample test by M. Eisterer taken from the round tube tested in 2017.
- Friedrich to take photographs of the brazing surface of the tape on the tube and share with Dani.
