Mehnir laser characterisation (X. Lu)

- Visiting PhD student from Tsinghua university working on optical cavity for several different projects
- Aim to store 400kW of power with the Mehnir laser
- Experimental protocol established to reach the target
- We expect to reach 170kW with the nominal amplifier power and the pulsed laser. So far we only used low power CW laser

Eduardo on pillar design
- Following the vibration measurement in the SPS ring, seeing the spectrum does not match the frequencies of the pillar
- Production expected to start soon by the STI workshop
- Going forward with a prototype and will use an STI laser to measure the coupled vibration
- Aiming for a test during the summer and an installation during the YETS
- Needs a lot of preparation

Xenon cooling
- Motivation
- Alice is considering it for their extended run period
- Xe has several abundant isotopes which could be used to measure the different energy levels
- Peter ran initial simulation for Xenon for cooling time
- First number at 10s for 50% longitudinal cooling
- Expected lifetime of 45±15s for Li-like Xe in the SPS
- Question is whether we could also observe transverse cooling with the dispersion scheme

- Question of introducing a magnetic field at the FP cavity
- Z field is seen as both E and B field in the ion frame
- Zeeman splitting and shifting is observed
- Several interesting prospects being studied
