- Max. average beam intensity increase wrt. NA62 nominal (3.36E12 p/spill, 2E11 p/s) is a factor 27.5 for BDF (4E13 p/spill, 5.5E12 p/s)
- Bridge shielding studies w/ updated FLUKA model were performed
- Continuous beam loss in the beam pipe is assumed as source term is not known
- Data is not normalized to obtain absolute dose rates, but only ratios are of interest
- 3 different scenarios are compared to the current situation:
- Additional 15 cm of concrete -> factor 1.4 reduction
- Additional 1 m of concrete -> factor 7.6 reduction
- Additional 1 m of concrete + shift of magnets 5 m downstream -> factor 442 reduction
- Shifting magnets is most efficient mitigation measure
New Actions:
- Shifting of magnets QNL.X0450792 and QNL.X0450795 to be investigated by Luke: Action: Matt
- Shielding studies to be extended: Action: Giuseppe
- Magnet shift w/o shielding improvement
- Removal of only first magnet w/o shielding improvement
- Additional 40 cm iron above beamline inside tunnel
- Organize a meeting with HI-ECN3 WP2 once the above shielding studies have been performed: Action: Claudia
- Investigate cost estimate for shielding improvement and max. possible water flow restriction: Action: Ludovic
