On 30 January we are celebrating the Data Protection Day 2024!

As the 28th January 2024 - the Data Protection Day - falls on a Sunday, we have decided to celebrate this important day on the following Tuesday.

Again the four EIROforum organisations - CERN, EMBL, ESA and ESO - join to bring you a shared webinar on data protection.

The this year's topic is "Data Protection Day-to-Day". Based on the replies to the survey of the last year's participants who prefered more practical information about data privacy, we have two engaging speakers who will share with the audience tips and tricks to avoid data breaches and explain what to do when they happen.

Le 30 janvier, nous célébrons la journée de la protection des données 2024 !

Comme le 28 janvier 2024 - la journée de la protection des données - tombe sur un dimanche, nous avons décidé de célébrer cette journée importante le mardi suivant.

Une fois encore, les quatre organisations de l’EIROforum - CERN, EMBL, ESA et ESO - s’associent pour un événement commun sur la protection des données.

Le thème de cette année est "La protection des données au quotidien". Sur la base des réponses à l'enquête menée auprès des participants de l'année dernière, qui préféraient des informations plus pratiques sur la protection des données, nous avons invité deux conférenciers engageants qui partageront avec le public des conseils et des astuces pour éviter les violations de données et expliqueront ce qu'il faut faire lorsqu'elles se produisent.

      How are you hacked? Practical examples through the attacker’s eyes - or Phishing, impersonation and AI. What will change this year? 20m

      Tuomas Mettänen works as an IT Security Officer at European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and handles IT Security Incidents as part of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT). The presentation looks at the potential data breaches through the eyes of the attacker. We will take a look at the tools and techniques often used by organised criminal groups, especially regarding phishing toolkits and share best practises on how to mitigate the potential data breach.

      Managing a personal data breach 25m

      Michele Di Mascolo is an IT security Engineer at the European Space Agency and covers the roles of Project System Security Officer (PSSO) for the ESAIT Department and Manager of the ESACERT Team, who is responsible of the ESA Cyber Emergency and Incident Response processes. The presentation will provide and overview of the various phases of the Incident Handling process implemented by ESA. Starting from preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication and recovery, to post-incident activities, the focus will be on the specific measures and steps taken by the Agency to prevent and manage cyber incidents involving personal data.
