MNP 33 in NA60+ Presentation (Enrico Scomparin, Gianluca Usai)

Proposal to replace the toroid magnet with MNP 33.

The magnet is "owned" by the experiment MNP33, but in fact it was "borrowed". It would be good to have another use for the magnet. What is not clear is when LS3 will start. The power supplies are very old. That is an issue in particular in these days, due to high electricity costs, so one would want to switch them off but cannot really due to reliability issues. One should think about putting new power supplies.

Within NA Cons there are plans to update the power converters. In phase 1 (during LS3, the BA80 PCs are replaced). In phase 2, BA81 PCs are going to be replaced as well. EHN1 is powered by PA81 and this will be replaced only during LS4. One should find an intermediate solution.

There is the option to use the old PCs in BA81 as they will become obsolete as one beamline is being dismantled. They could power MNP33, but they are quite old.

For the new coil, there is a solution. For the old coil it's more complicated as one would need to move a PC and use it.

Is there a possibility to run with a single coil? -> Enrico: no.

It is foreseen that NA60+ would run for 60 days per year. Therefore the electricity bill would be 1/3 of NA62.

Daniel Schoerling presents on the TE-MSC role in the EP magnet maintenance

Few open points need to be discussed.

For the EP warm magnets, names for EP are defined as:

SM1 & SM2 - Laurent Deront
Remaining magnets: Jarl Nysaeter PETTERSEN

Marco presents on study on magnetic parts in self-rescue masks.

Lexglimos for LHCb and ALICE should be queried for maps of area at risk where BgradB > 0.08T^2.

Round table:

Marco: The bismuth probes arrived, they will be in 311 for a short while

Hans: NA62 - no other point

Nicola: LHCb ECAL gap will be mapped next Monday/Tuesday

Jarl: the new PC in b168 was installed and the SAT was done. We have some issues with the primary cooling, but SCE has possibly today fixed the problem today. A new control system will be developed by Jarl.

Xavier: passes on the ball to Matthias for talking on ATLAS

Matthias: Earlier this week the ATLAS magnets were discharged in preparation for maintenance activities taking place during the Technical Stop next week. Note that an intervention is planned on the Swiss electrical grid, giving increased chances of large electrical perturbations on the electrical grid, and so keeping the magnets off during this period limits the chance of unexpected events such as slow dumps. The Vertex magnets are planned to be put in operation at the start of July, and so Matthias is in contact with the Shine Technical Coordinator to see how magnet recommissioning may be organized prior to operation.

Benoit: In CMS the magnet was ramped down with the beam on on request of the machine. Interventions are also planned on the cryogenics during the TS.

The cooldown of the M1 magnet started, since in the next months CMS Tracker and CMS HGCAL will use it.
