09:30 → 10:30 Introduction to CERN, the LHC, and the ATLAS experiment (ATLAS Visitor Center)

We will visit the ATLAS experiment - or at least the exhibition by the control room. The exhibition features a 3D movie explaining how the ATLAS detector was built, how it works, and what its scientific goals are. The ATLAS experiment is located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/iEGRpQi9ucJKZ6Lp8

Anton Lu, a CERN Doctoral Student working on accelerator physics with AI methods, has kindly agreed to join us as a guide here.

11:00 → 12:15 Forming and maintaining large-scale scientific collaborations - with Peter Jenni

How does CERN manage to create and maintain long-term collaborations of thousands of scientists working together for decades? We're very happy to have Peter Jenni visit us for this session. Peter led the ATLAS Collaboration from when it was formed in 1992 until 2009.

We will visit the Antiproton Decelerator (AD), or "Antimatter Factory" as it's sometimes called, and see the experiments there studying the properties of antimatter. The AD is located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MX43Vpp4km8TD3LK8
