HL-LHC BGI meeting - DIC and DIF followup

Europe/Zurich
Gunn Khatri (CERN), James Storey (CERN)
Description

DIC - Demand installation de cable, DIF - demand de installation de fiber

Present:

Mark, Gunn, Wilfried and Miguel Baeza

Cables, fibers and racks:

  • According to James, all the cable/fiber installation requests (DIC/DIF) for LS3, must be made before May 2024, this is urgent (Gunn takes care of it)
  • For DIC, Gunn contacted Gael Girardot, got reply and will follow up (also copy Ioanna Ioannidi, she takes care of most work with Gael)
  • Miguel suggested to setup a meeting with Gael and Ioanna, invite him as well.
  • For DIF, Gunn will contact Jorge Rodriguez (jorge.rodriguez.fernandez@cern.ch) and Jeremy Blanc
  • No DIR needed, during last visit to LHC Point4, we already identified which racks we will use (confirmed with SY-BI group):

    @UA43

    @UA47

  • EN-EL group during LS3 will be very busy with LHC point 1 and point 5 (point 4 is less critical, have a lot more space for cable/racks)
  • Mark: can we have triax cables ? How much more expensive would they be compared to standard coaxial ? Miguel suggested we talk to EN-EL

Cooling water:

  • Cooling water needed for 10W dissipated heat load (seems low but necessary for removing heat from vacuum side)
  • Miguel will find out who is responsible for cooling water in P4 and get back to us

Vacuum chamber layout:

  • The vacuum chamber depends on the magnet, we are doing conceptual design study, hopefully get back by end of March with decision on both the magnet and vacuum chamber
  • Talk to Eric Page if questions regarding vacuum

Planning and intergration:

There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 15:30 16:00
      zoom chat 30m
      • chat to followup on BGI installation plan and preparation
      • services (cooling water, vacuum integration, rack, cable/fiber installation)
