A quick summary of the meeting with WDL about the plungers:
-plungers will be installed on the aisle-side of the experiment and they do not block the passge
--to be approved by Ans and Eloise
-the additional shielding that was installed for the DPS will be installed again to protect the control rack
-stands that hold the upstream interferometer will have to be moved 5 and 15cm away from the source
--to be approved by Ans and Eloise
--drilling of new holes to be coordinated with Colette (Michele/Marlene?), Fri. March 22?
--Michele+ will remove the stands etc. before the drilling
-plungers:
--near the source entrance (2?) may have only a screen for alignment
--near the end (6 to10) may have only a laser beam block with two positions adjustable remotely
--others (3 to 5) may have a screen and a block
--mounts have to be micro-machined, using 3D-printed sintered metal is not worth the risk
--foils will be frame-mounted with foils supplied by us (Michele)
--screens need to be ordered ASAP (Michele)
The choice has to be made ASAP ...
The option above seems fine to me ...
The bellows have not been ordered yet:
-yesterday the company
--validated (without warranty) that bellows can withstand up to 280C temperatures
--stated that with no unexpected issues, bellows can be manufactured in 12(?)weeks
--decisions on mechanical drawings still need to be made
--for 'insurance' WDL will make a mock model of the plunger by next week
There will be a meeting, either on Wed. morning in the UK (Liverpool airport?) or at CERN or Fri. for all of us to validate the design, based on the mock-up
AS A RESULT, the schedule for completion is pegged against the start of the third run
Thank you,
Patric
