FCCee beam transfer meeting #7 : special integration

Europe/Zurich

Participants:

W. Bartmann, L. Bromiley, Y. Dutheil, F. Valchkova-Georgieva, S. Yue

  • Booster location
    • No longer in between the 2 collider rings
    • Present location is now around 160mm from the middle
    • Agreement that we can presently consider the booster still in the middle of the collider rings on the PB straight section because
      • Symmetric design is simpler
      • We can offset it slightly at a later point with minor changes to the transferline geometries
      • We can use small chicanes at the entrance/exit of the straight section to bring the booster in the center
  • Inside of the ring is reserved for transport so beam transfer on the outside would be favored
    • Beam transfer lines presently use the inside of the ring, geometry and crossing do not favor outside placement
  • Injection extraction equipment placement
    • The kicker systems require equipment nearby with good shielding to avoid exposure to the tunnel radiation
    • Present design
      • Gallery only covers 330m on each side
      • First alcove is ~700 beyond the end of the gallery
    • Agreement that alcoves can be created where needed
  • Question of the dump
    • Present concept places the dump point 5m away from the collider
    • Discussions with STI to be caried to keep or amend this value
  • Needed inputs from ABT
    • MADX output from the survey
    • Only work within 1000m -> survey zero (0, 0, 0) at the crossing between the 2 collider trajectories at the center of PB
  • ABT to send first MADX files no later than in 2 weeks
    • Fani can start integrating and we can review the proposition in early may
    • Need to include
      • space reservation for the elements placed on the line
      • Space reservation and locations for the alcoves

Actions

  • ABT: share location and required space for equipment alcoves
  • ABT: share MADX survey file before 17/04 of the PB lines
    • Include envelopes of special ABT equipment
