Draft:

  • Previous magnet meeting decision was to go for triplet magnet
  • Dominique gave a presentation
  • Gilles de Godec brainstorm EPC power converter point view for the magnet needs and different option
  • The magnet 355 A for operation at 0.6 T, so a 2P type Polarus power converters of 500 A (360 V) can be used
  • Suggested cable cross section would be 240 mm^2 (but leave this for EN-EL to decide), for outer insulation they can take 1kV. Cable resistivity
  • Interlock between power converters should be such that if one of the converters (main or trim) goes busted, the other should trip as well to avoid beam deflection.
  • Three options:

(1) 2 Power converters for one complete triplet magnet (1 for main and 1 for two trims) - 8 power converters (safest option)

(2) 2 Power converters for two instruments, 1 for two mains and 1 for 4 trims. - 4 power converters, must have all the system magnetically identical which unfortunately not guaranteed as the one H and one V instrument on one beam influence differently on the other beam.

(3) 1 power converter for one twiplet - 4 power converters, less power converters but no knobs to tune !

  • Cooling water needed for the power converters in the service tunnel, aproximately 100 kW, new request for EN-CV
  • The physical envelope of the PC rack will be provided by Gilles with possible location in the tunnel (or Miguel helps identify one for integration)
  • Needs ethernet connection for each EPC PC rack
  • Gunn will send plan ID to Gilles
  • AC power request needs to be added in the PLAN for each PC (400 V/200 A, 3Phase), socket type will be provided by Gilles
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
