Draft by Gunn (Please add/edit as needed)

Present: Giuseppe, Cesar, WIlliam, Chiara, Teresa, James, Mark, Gunn

Gunn/James/Mark:

  • kickoff meeting between SY-BI and TE-VSC in terms of HL LHC BGI project (resuming after long pause)
  • LS3: 4 instruments to be installed, 2 on the left side (horizontal and vertical BGI) & 2 on the right side (horizontal and vertical BGI) of point4
  • Compact triplet magnet design chosen by D. Bodart (TE-MSC), Vacuum chamber design/optimisation in progress (SY-BI)
  • Magnet will hav epossibility to slide longitudinally to access instrument flange and for bakeout
  • New new gas injection systems (on eon each beam), not needed for HL LHC baseline operation but useful for potential halo measurements.
  • EYETS 24-25: no vacuum installation foreseen

Giuceppe/Cesar:

  • Envelope/layout/location should be provided (including step file of the magnet design from TE-MSC)
  • Need to consider heating jacket/tape and insulation around the vacuum chamber
  • Bakeout must be done at least at 120 degree C, more the better
  • INFN-Ferrara's 4DPhoton ceramic feedthrough should be tested for outgassing as it is now
  • Keep DN80 flange on two end of the instrument flange connection to the LHC beam pipe
  • Carbon coating of the interior of the vacuum chamber reccomended to avoid electron cloud
  • Timeline wise, intruments should be installed by Q4 2027
  • Latest the magnet should be erady by Q3 2027
  • Note that cryo cooldown in Point 5 planned for Q4 2028

William/Chiara/Teresa:

  • Design of the instrument in progress (changing from round to recatngular chamber), Teresa presented 3D models
  • As soon as a 3D design of the chamber is ready, it will go through RF impedance simulations
  • SY-BI-ML will come to TE-VSC with the final instrument design probably by end of 2024
  • We keep the same 1.5 m beampipe length
