Conclusions:
Minimum requirements for the instruments of the DBs (type HIE-Isolde version): equiped with 1 slit, 1 Faraday cup and one Magnetof each. The Faraday cup (FC) OR the Magnetof (MT) are used in in-beam position together with the slit scanning across the beam. Interlock needed to disable the use of FC and MT at the same time. SY-BI cautions that scanning in this way for beamprofiling of DC beam will be slow. Ideally, a forth instrument, a wire-scanner, should be installed as well (to be investigate by BI if there is space). The intended operation with all four instruments would be: FC and wire Scanner OR MagneToF and slit. BI to decide on spare parts/equipment needs. Both FC and MT have two positions: in and out.
An existing Micro-Magnetof can be loaned TU Darmstadt to CERN potentially in May, including an SMA cable for outgassing test and to give it to the BI team.
Outgassing has been tested on that equipment, ok as recieved, likely no standard cleaning possible, tbc. Cable to be tested for outgassing.
Lukas will follow up with the supplier of the Magnetof about the type of connector and will place the order of 3+1 units. Price estimate from earlier quote is 2500 EUR per device.
Cables (power and signal) for the DB's will be routed to the mezzanine above the RC6 beam line, a preliminary DIC has been submitted, idem for vacuum equipment. MagneToF Signal transfer without preamplification over a few tens of meters between detector and DAQ needs further discussion.
Vacuum team has set-up the simulation model up to the low pressure part. To be completed and first results are expected within the next 2-3 weeks.
Design news:
A first design for the ISOLDE type DB is available, about 300 mm in length. Space after the second set off doublets is precieous, to be checked with the required vacuum elements (e.g. bellows, pumping).
As a first approch, all beam line elements need alignment. A dedicated meeting will be held for supports and alignment, once the first vacuum results are confirming the beam line element positions.
A regular monthly meeting is desired. Next meeting planned for early May, end of May a large audience general meeting, then regular meetings once every month.
