Discussion about AMBER Gas Control System

https://cern.zoom.us/j/65977356660?pwd=ZCtQMHM5VC8zNUs0ckFIY05XOW94UT09&from=addon

Overview of the process of the system:

  • One MFC at the input regulating by stabilizing the density of the gas inside the chamber
  • One MFC at the output working at fixed flow (25 nl/min)
  • Injection with one MFC that injects when required: it keeps the pressure at the buffer input of the compressor stable
  • One MFC as bypass of the compressor to stabilize compressor itself. It should keep the pressure at the buffer output constant
  • A set of valves and actuators that are opening and closing depending on the operating modes

Discussion on the components:

  • Naming in the P&ID will probably be reviewed by gas team to be consistent with other systems
  • Two chamber pressure sensors for two different ranges. Better if digital and if they can be integrated in the PLC
    • Discussion about the possibility to add an analog sensor in parallel and use it for redundancy and fail-safe modes
  • I/O resolution requirements of at least 16 bit: it should be feasible, to check integration with electrical part and PLC control

Operating modes of the TPC

  • Cleaning mode of TPC
  • Filling of TPC
  • Nominal run of TPC
    • Injection self controlling
  • Normal evacuation of the gas
  • Emergency evacuation of the gas

Storage and data availability

  • All parameters and values could be published via dip.
  • Parameters will be accessible by operators through the control panel

Actions:

  • Gianluca to send an example of FA to AMBER people so that they can understand how the control system application is described
  • Check the report done by HSE to see if there is any particular thing to implement in the control system for safety
  • In the future review the cabling and electrical part requirements with Patrick Carrié: dedicated visit on site but should be organized when there is no data taking ongoing

      Dear Gianluca,

      you can find everything :

We need two sensors, up to 10 bar and up to 30 bar with RS485 as it provides best possible precision.
      Version 33X-EI, for ATEX.

Please check if you can use them, especially due to the reaction time. For the pressure regulation we need fast devices.
      Same for the safety.
We can not exclude that we would need two sets of devices.
