Agenda
- News by MM
- DRD4 Collaboration meeting @CERN on 17--20 June; Dedicated session on WG4 on 19/6 afternoon.
- Interventions
- LC Ferrara group ordered a GPU and will soon join the effort on Optix for ray tracing
- Talk - Detector Simulation in ClearMind Project - Viatcheslav Sharyy
- NN, S11: We understand that you implemented the simulation of the thin layer effect in GEANT4. We are doing something similar, but require multiple thin layers. Does GEANT4 allow to include them? Reading the documentation it looks as the layer is simulated as a coating, not a layer itself. VS I don’t see the technical reason why you can’t use several of them. GEANT4 takes the refractive indices on both sides and you need to specify the thickness of the layer/coating. If not the case, it could be extended quite simply. NN Outside GEANT4 we use a matrix multiplication to account for several layers, maybe it would be better to do this in GEANT4 as well. VS You are probably right.
- MM, S12 Would it make sense to improve the simulation of charge deposit in the MCP? VS Here we show the outcome of the simulation for just a fixed position. We know that response is position-dependent, and there is a long tail that we did not simulate. This is a first step in this study. We hope that the next prototype will be better to tune further the simulation.
- MM, S13 is the simulation colors corresponding between top and bottom? Or is there any color mismatch? VS Yes, probably we messed up left and right in these plots.
- MM, what is the single photon resolution you aim at? We aim at <100ps single-photon time resolution. 50,60ps seems a reasonable target.
