IOC+ASP2024 LOC Meeting

1. Students

   • The Moroccan students will be covered by the universities or thru the Ministry; We already asked ICTP to invite them. Only 4 Moroccan students opted to participate online

   • Visa letters have been given to all the students that we know need visas.

   • Some students are experiencing difficulties in applying for visas. On a case-by-case basis, we try to help.

2. Teachers

   • With a revised program that considers the interest from the Ministry for teachers growth, the Ministry is making a call for teachers' applications to participate in the program. Then, there will be a selection. By the end of May, we will know the number and the list of participating teachers. The Ministry will cover them.

   • The LOC already identified 3 lecturers from Morocco to cover the physics topics requested by the Ministry, and one lecturer for optics to be identified. 

   • Uli and Kenneth presented their programs

   • Mounia gave a brief report on the Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism & Electronics program

   • As Dr. Biersach couldn't join today’s meeting. Mounia provided a brief update on his proposal.

3. ASP Forum & Dinner

   • We presented the detailed agenda for the forum day, including the speakers and panelists

   • For the ASP dinner, we are currently in discussions with the LOC chairs regarding coverage and sponsorship options for the ASP dinner.

4. Learners

   • We've received definitive confirmation from the ASP2024 LOC chairs that the high school program cannot proceed due to difficulties in gathering students during their major school break. 

5. Logistics

   • T-shirts and bags. We request that the LOC identifies someone among its rank to look into making t-shirts and bags with logos of ASP and sponsors. 

   • These will be distributed to participants, in addition to the t-shirts from the ICTP. that they will provide due to the ICTP 60th anniversary, ICTP will ship to Morocco some goodies including t-shirts, banners, bags, etc.  Letter for customs cleaners will be provided from ICTP, in addition ICTP will contact the ASP2024-LOC chairs for any additional informations

   • Arrangements for catering services: Prof Chabab already had a discussion with the catering company that it will be responsible for lunch and coffee breaks during two weeks of school. They will send us a written proposal with prices, for the payment method, they are willing to get paid in 3 installments.

1. • Updates of ASP poster and website: ASP website is up and running now! The ASP poster has been finalized, awaiting feedback regarding the high patronage of His Majesty.

   • Scientific agenda on Indico: We're currently in the process of porting the scientific agenda from Google Docs to Indico.

   • Software and computing support: Horst couldn't join us today, but we're expecting Horst to attend our next meeting to address any questions or concerns raised by the lecturers and provide further recommendations, In addition Horst encourage all lecturers to remotely test the machine & email him any issues they encounter ASAP

   • Our next meeting will be on May 21 at 15:00 CET.

   • Starting from that point, the meetings will be held weekly.
