The behavior of algorithms for lattice QCD simulations towards the continuum is studied. We show that we cannot expect the Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm to follow the free field scaling in an interacting theory.
We provide evidence that the HMC falls into the universality class of the
Langevin equation if open boundary conditions are imposed.
