Description

LHCb UK Seminar: Outreach and Public-Facing Work in Particle Physics

This month's seminar will feature Professor James Pinfold, from the University of Alberta, who will be discussing the MoEDAL-MAPP experiment. The MoEDAL (Monopole and Exotics Detector at the LHC) detector surrounds the same interaction point as LHCb, lining the walls of what we know as the VELO alcove, and searches for magnetic monopoles and other exotic particles. The MAPP (MoEDAL Apparatus for Penetrating Particles) detector is a recent addition, that extends the physics reach of the collaboration to feebly interacting particles and long-lived particles.

This seminar will take place both on ZOOM and in-person, in room 13/3-005. Refreshments will be provided.
