WP8 meeting - dedicated to Integration [VAX services ATLAS]

As due to this narrow chimney area for passing the services of the VAX modules M1, M2 and M3 this meeting is dedicated to the integration proposal of WP8 for ATLAS. 

Participants: Jaime Pérez, Antonio Alonso, Francisco Sanchez Galan, Michel Raymond, Andrea Gaddi, Oliver Boettcher (Minutes)

 

Francisco presented integration model ST0667845_01which is to be regarded as an integration proposal of WP8.

TE-VSC still has to validate the solution.

 

Main aspects of the proposal:

• M2, M3 and Forward Chambers services are all inside separate sections (no free cables) and the support structures are bolted to the VAXbox
• M1 approach is similar, but cable support is attached to M1
• Minor details remain, but because of unexpected absence of Damien finishing of detail solutions still need to be done.
• This solution requires the common agreement that VJ sliding plate can be modified: the sides of the plate and the guide rails need to be enlarged!
• All envelopes are respected.

 

At the moment of an ATLAS large opening (Long Shutdown evt. YETS) VAX box, M2 and M3 incl. services and structures go out as a single piece.

Again: the proceeding for removal need to be still discussed and confirmed by Vacuum.

 

For testing simulators WP8 intends to evtl. machine the existing spare VJ plate from TE-VSC.

A dedicated discussion with Josef and Jaime would be needed to clarify who does what: e.g. design of modifications on VJ sliding plate.

As well the the handling of M1 with supports and cables need to be discussed with transport and the remote handling team.

Evtl. this solution requires the application of counterweight or (more favourable) moving the lifting points for compensation of the moved centre of gravity.

Michel Raymond proposed also to include the crane operators as some moment.

They have practical experience, very often the studied way changed in practice, because of very simple solutions like slinging techniques etc.).

 

The solution will be integrated in the mock-up for tests.

 

Further aspects. Cables on top of TX1S remain on the side on which they arrive after vertical routing.

Proposal of Michel is to have LUCID cables better on top of VAX services cables

 

AOB: Jaime asked about the status regarding VAX module shielding of modules of CMS.

Francisco confirmed that CMS is working on the validation of the WP12 proposal.
