The Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems, Institute for Basic Science (PCS-IBS) and the School of physics, Institute of Science, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) were organizing the Asian Network School and Workshop on Complex Condensed Matter Systems in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 5 to 9 November 2018.
The Asian Network School and Workshop on Complex Condensed Matter Systems 2024
This activity will be the second Annual School and Workshop in a series conducted by the Asian Network on Condensed Matter and Complex Systems 2023-2025: (https://pcs.ibs.re.kr/ICTP_Asian_Network/ICTP_Asian_Network.html). The first was held from 6-10 November 2023 at IOP, VAST, Hanoi, Vietnam (https://iop.vast.vn/asian/2023/). In 2024, it will be held in Thailand. Then, the next Network School and Workshop will be held in Manila, Philippines in November 2025. This cycle repeats the 3-year cycle Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines established by the first iteration of our network 2017-2019.

The program of the School consists of lecturers suited for advanced students given by invited scientists who are active practitioners in their research fields. Each lecturer will provide two (2) one-hour lectures. The first lecture will be of an introductory level and will focus on either the analytical, computational, and experimental techniques required to do research in the selected topic. In the second part, while continuing with the pedagogical style of the school, the lecturer can provide more advanced methods and examples of research results that offer unique perspectives on their respective fields of expertise. The one-day Workshop component will cover recent scientific achievements in the areas covered by the school. These consist of short talks (20–30 mins) from invited speakers or authors of contributed papers. Other contributions, such as those from students, will be designated for poster presentations. The school will be conducted from the first to the fourth day and the workshop will be held on the fifth day. To encourage discussion among invited lecturers and speakers, post-graduate researchers, and graduate students, there will be sufficient time allotted for open forum and coffee breaks after each lecture and during the poster sessions.
To attract the best students, post-doctoral fellows and early career researchers from the developing countries in South East Asia the activity has no registration fee and is open to participants from all APCTP Member Countries. Selected and qualified participants from outside the host country in South East Asia will receive a low-cost carrier travel support and partial to full accommodation support. Local participants living far from the venue will also receive partial to full accommodation support from local sourced funds. The travel and accommodation expenses of lecturers will be funded mostly from their home institutions.
Both theoretical and experimental work on complex condensed matter will be discussed. This year's event will place a particular emphasis on computational methods for studying structure and dynamics in complex systems.
