Presentation by Ana Teresa Pérez Fontenla EN-MME-MM
A new generation of gravitational-wave (GW) observatories with enhanced sensitivity is being developed to replace present detectors within the next decade. Leading this effort in Europe is the Einstein Telescope (ET), which will enable scientists to search for GW signals across almost the entire Universe. Since 2022, CERN has been applying its expertise in vacuum technology, materials, and manufacturing to address one of the project’s greatest challenges—constructing the world’s largest ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) system. This presentation will highlight EN-MME’s key studies, including innovative, cost-effective solutions, ongoing progress, and future plans.
