  • Luisa:
    • Shows the results from case 1b
      • Shorter time included
      • Case 1b load more concentrated on active surface
      • Higher temperatures on the inermet blocks
      • Similar structural behavior (deposited energy is the same)
    • Scraping case
      • More deflection of the jaws, inducing more stress on the pipes
      • Simplified model with only blocks simulated to understand how far we are from the real peak power
        • Underestimating the maximum temperature on the blocks
        • The structural response of the jaw does not probably change much
      • Accidental scenario, abnormal
      • 3kW deposited should be ok regardless of the loss scenario

 

  • Anton:
    • Would like to increase BLM thresholds for intermediate and longer RS compared to 2023 Pb run
    • Relation between BLM response and power deposition?
      • TCT BLM response depends on the BLM position wrt the collimator
    • Simulated BLM response for a matrix of different BLM positions 
        • For direct impacts on the TCTs
    • BLM response also depends on deposited energy
    • If we take case 1a as a reference for the thresholds, case 2 would dump the beam at a much lower power deposition
    • Difference of a factor of 3 between highest and lowest BLM response for case 1a (in Gy per impacting ion)
    • Considering case 1a:
      • For RS06, we could go a factor of two higher in the master thresholds (for the halo scenario)
        • Would be safe from the mechanical point of view
      • For higher RS, could go even higher
    • Simulate also longer time for RS12 - ~83 s for TCTs - 1a case
    • Simulate also 10ms scraping case, 20kW deposited
    • Should we propagate the changes even for lower energies in the ramp?
    • Increase everything by a factor of 3
    • TCLDs:
      • In the same family as the W TCLs in IR1/5
        • Would change all
        • Create dedicated family?
          • TCLD_W family with additional factor of 2
      • Simulated BLM responses matches very well with TCTs
      • RS07 could be increased by factor of 2
    • TCLs are retracted, should not be a problem

 

 

  • Natalia:
    • Same power loss targets at injection
    • Some upscaled BLM signals above thresholds from end of 2023 ion run
