Description
The decay B0 -> K*0 mu+ mu- is a rare, b -> s, flavour changing neutral current process, mediated by electroweak box and penguin diagrams in the Standard Model (SM). In extensions to the SM, new particles can enter in competing loop diagrams, leading to large deviations in angular observables. A first measurement of B0 -> K*0 mu+ mu- by the LHCb collaboration based on ~ 300 pb^-1 will be presented. The analysis procedure and implications of the measurement will be discussed, as will plans to extend the analysis with ~ 1fb^-1 of integrated luminosity for the winter conferences.
