talk at JAP

  • add devices that are installed and say we expect no issue
  • mention the signs of issues during operation and during the MD with high intensity per bunch
  • mentions the important tests needed in 2025-26 to check that we are ready for HL-LHC
  • ACTION for Nicolas: check that transverse stability is indeed addressed by Xavier
  • ACTION for NIcolas: check that there is no intensity limitation from longitudinal stability

BGI

  • for Benoit and the BIHC team: get non normalized power spectrum before and after rotation
  • for James: get time in cycle when problems with LHC25
  • for Hikmet: see impact of plate and possibility of installing coupler on simulation

Comment proposal on rotation of CT-PPS ECR

Accepted with warning:

Comment from IWG:

For the same operational gap and centered beams inside the Roman pots, the rotation of Roman pots will have no impact on longitudinal impedance, therefore no impact on beam induced RF heating or longitudinal stability.

Transverse impedance would get an additional skew component, and transverse stability experts expect a negligible impact of this modified impedance contribution (horizontal, vertical and skew) of the Roman pots, especially since the Roman pots are allowed to enter only when stable beams are declared for high intensity operation.

It is very important indeed to check the RF fingers with X-rays after the rotation, as stated in the ECR in p.7, and to be ready to intervene in case of non-conformity.

The warning concerns the fact that these lines should be included in the final ECR.
