Description

Abstract:

I will discuss accelerator and beam physics developments that have contributed to advancing nuclear and high-energy physics, and explore new opportunities in major initiatives shaping the field, such as the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), Future Circular Collider (FCCee, a Higgs Factory at CERN), and the Muon Collider. Focusing on beam physics, I will address challenges and opportunities related to colliding beam facilities, including beam-beam and space-charge effects, particle collimation and machine-detector interface (MDI), beam instrumentation, magnet technology, and demonstrator facilities. Stony Brook’s close partnership with BNL provides a unique advantage in advancing research across a broad spectrum of accelerator R&D.
