Leadership Program Proposal Discussion

Stefan and Eva presented a proposal for a leadership program to be discussed with directors in February. The program would involve selecting a cohort to visit different EIROforum organizations, organizing workshops, addressing current challenges through "think pieces," and facilitating connections with senior leadership.

Agreement to refine the slide presentation and gather director input before the February meeting.

The group discussed criteria for selecting participants in a leadership development program, focusing on nominations by EIRO members and targeting middle to senior management levels, with a focus on individuals who could become future Director Generals. They clarified that the program should complement existing leadership training, offering exposure to external stakeholders and case studies across different organizations, with each EIRO nominating one or two participants.

Rachel suggested creating a white paper for internal circulation before approaching Director Generals, emphasizing the need for stakeholder input and clear communication of the program's goals.

The group discussed how to present a management training program to different organizations, focusing on targeting senior managers rather than using specific job titles that might not translate across organizations. Andy suggested expressing the program in terms of the number of people managed rather than specific job titles, while Eva emphasized the importance of gathering input from directors. The discussion highlighted the need to focus on developing skills for the next /management level, with Eva noting that many leadership programs lack training in external stakeholder management and cross-organizational issues.

Training Platform

Phil Reed and Kenneth Rioja presented the TeSS platform, which aggregates training materials across different organizations. They discussed upcoming features to improve cross-disciplinary training knowledge exchange.

Eva shared information about a nuclear fusion online learning platform her organization is developing, which could potentially connect with TESS in the future.
