Beamline for Schools | Fusion physics
The organizers of Beamline for Schools (BL4S; https://cern.ch/bl4s) are glad to meet the teams interested in participating in the competition. This event is powered by Gauss Fusion (https://www.gauss-fusion.com/).
Nuclear fusion powers the very heart of every star in the night sky and our own sun. Bringing this energy source down to earth, 'putting the star in a jar', has been the ambition of engineers and scientists since its discovery. In this talk, you'll learn how we are working to harness this energy source. This includes the basics of nuclear fusion, how we bring the physics of a star down to earth, and what challenges we're overcoming in physics and engineering.
To facilitate the participation of people coming from different time zones, we will hold the same session two times, at 9am and at 5pm, CET (Central European Time). We will soon add a ZOOM link below so you can join the event.
