- RP studies were performed with a full tungsten target of 150 cm length and a density of 19.3 g/cm3
- The proximity shielding was reduced from 50 cm to 25 cm with a W (18.5 g/cm³) and Cu plug (D = 30 – 25 cm)
- Marco pointed out that currently Cu is being investigated for the proximity shielding itself, which is to be checked by RP (Action/Olin)
- A reduction of the MHS length from 450 cm to 230 cm was investigated
- Comparison of prompt dose rates for the W and Cu plugs show only a small difference (~10%) between the two cases
- Prompt dose rates as the end of the hadron stopper are a factor 6-7 higher with the given setups compared to the CDS design, which from a prompt radiation point of view is acceptable
- Preliminary results for the residual dose rates also seem to confirm that the reduced length is acceptable, which is to be confirmed with higher statistics (Action/Olin)
- Additional R2E checks to be performed (Action/Luigi)
