1. Update on the content of the new communication plan
Christine presented the overview made to the DG-CO group last week. The ppt can be found on indico (https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=153212).

This includes a proposal for a new organisational structure of communication and outreach at CERN (slide 10), with a new coordinating directorate level position - a CCO. Within DG-CO, it is proposed to organise group structure by content production, communities management and media relations.

The discussion centred on this slide and, in particular, the fact that both content production and communities management occurred within PH-EDU (labelled outreach on the slide?) as well as in DG-CO. It was felt that synergies between the two sides should exist at all levels and that this was not yet very clear on the new organigramme.

There was a request to circulate to LOG members the table of objectives and messages for non-mandated audiences - action James.

Next steps
- DG-CO is currently working on the resource requirements and programme of work to be included in the communication plan.
- Further input or questions from LOG members should be emailed to James (or please ask for a meeting if you have a lot to say J ) – action all LOG members.
- A presentation to the extended directorate will be made end Sept.

2. LP11 debrief
Renilde:
the hashtag was a success and is still being used today. The webcast throughout the conference was well followed, but with a big fall off after day 1. The press conference had good Indian media attendance, but the webcast didn’t work. Direct press calls to CERN mainly came from the UK media. Postings on BBC-online were widely picked up in other countries.

ATLAS :
Ceri Perkins recruited physicists at the conference to blog. These were tweeted by Steve and this stimulated a 50% increase in ATLAS followers. News was also posted to the webpage.

CMS:
A CERN retweet of a link to the CMS statement generated 3000 site visits.

3. Round the table news

ATLAS
- Claudia is blogging from Ars Electronica. Steve retweets. Live ATLAS events will be included in the projections (Joao).
A CERN press release will come out on Saturday announcing Collide and the new prize.  CERN will tweet about Ars Electronica today (action Christine).
- ATLAS would like to update the press office selection of photos in CDS. Suggestions from the experiments are welcome and should be sent to press.office@cern.ch with links to the images in CDS,
- ATLAS is working on their own communication plan which will be completed by end 2011.
- A request was made for more regular (weekly) distribution of the press cuttings. A change of provider is underway.
- Discover the Cosmos is a new education initiative (starting at CERN today) linking escience initiatives in physics and astronomy.
