Description

Robotic platforms are tools that can make operations in harsh and hazardous environments safer and more efficient, but choosing a robot that is well suited to a particular environment and task can be difficult.

Every potential component of a robotic system has its own benefits and drawbacks which need to be matched to the environment, task, deployment period and more.

BE-CEM-MRO develops, operates and manages a fleet of robots for deployment in the harsh and hazardous environments around the CERN complex, and in this presentation we will discuss the design processes that go into selecting suitable platforms for harsh environment, important design decisions, and advice for designing robot-friendly components in the future.
