Spectrometer Meeting Minutes

Date: 18/06/2025
Participants: Edda, Collette, Fern, David, Debdeep, Matthieu, Joe, John

-Spectrometer Status:
*The spectrometer worked successfully during Run 2b, decommissioning started.
*Emittance analysis:* At least one good dataset was recorded at 4e14/ccm.

Moving Spectrometer Magnets (Run 2c → 2d)
* MT needs to further explore the options for moving the spectrometer magnets between Run 2c and 2d.

Specification Document
* David prepared a draft version.
* Edda requested it be converted into the EDMS template.
To do: Edda to share the template with David.
To do: David to update the document and use the template.

OSR (Optical Synchrotron Radiation)
* December 2024: Successful tests at CLEAR — first signal observed.
* April 2025: Emittance could be reconstructed (order of magnitude correct). Results to be presented at the BI review.
* To do: Liverpool and UCL teams to meet before the BI review and propose a spectrometer implementation plan.
* OSR will require a transparent window (~2 inches in diameter).
* Optimal setup: SR light should ideally be perpendicular to the window.

* To do: Arthur to provide the correct proton beam profile (including halo) to evaluate interaction with the spectrometer magnet.
    * To do: Marlene to confirm with Philip whether this is acceptable.

Follow-up with Nicolas
* Nicolas will need input on the angles of the dipole spectrometer chamber.
* Decision: Schedule a meeting after the BI review, including vacuum discussions.

Presentation by Fern on the spectrometer dismantling
* Optics and cables have been removed.
* Presentation can be used for future reference to locate items.

Next Meeting: Tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, 30th of July.
