The meeting opened at 15:00 and closed at 15:40.
The number of attendees was stable at 17 and peaked at 18.

General news:

  • The next DRD3 week takes place in Amsterdam, 2nd to 6th of June. It is advisable to think both about abstracts and accommodation options already now. Abstract submission is open between April 30 and May 23.
    • The WG4 session block is scheduled on the Thursday morning (5th of June)
  • The Allpix Squared workshop takes place next week. The agenda is public, and online participation is free

Tommaso Croci presented work on TCAD simulations for LGAD optimization

  • Developing methodologies to simulate LGADs up to extreme fluences
  • "New University of Perugia" radiation damage model with acceptor removal shows good reproduction of experimental data
  • Simulating compensated LGADs and DC-coupled resistive silicon detectors
    • Mixed-mode approach for RSDs: SPICE+TCAD simulations
  • Comparing simulations to data of both PIN diodes and LGAD structures
  • Optimising guard ring structures

Questions and Answers:

  • Håkan W: Are there prototype chips available for compensated LGADs? TC: Yes, my colleague Alessandro Fondacci is working on it. There is a new submission in the works as well.
  • Marco M: On the RSDs: is there a variant with isolation trenches as well, instead of resistive strips? TC: There is work ongoing here. A trench-isolated variant was the first submission, it was used for a proof-of-concept.
  • Marco M: Does resistive strips reduce distortion by itself? Or is it an effect of signal confinement? TC: It helps to confine the spreading, this is the main thing. Confinement is the main part.

The next meeting will be held in 2 weeks from now. The conveners will also announce the time for the next meeting via email.
