Draft:

  • In order to adapt gun v5, we most open the back plate of the expansion solenoid.
  • A good compromise it to open partially, to inner radius of 288 mm
  • Practically tell the magnet group to ask the manufgacturer to open it up fully to some 375 mm (around that number) and add and adapting ring produced at CERN. Which Luke said "yes, it is doable". Update in 2025, it has been updated with the manufacturer
  • This adapting ring will need passage hole for the coolingw water.
  • With the opening of the back plate, the axial B-field max also shifts, therefore the cathode position is adapted, the anode length has been shortened by 50mm in v5.2 compared to the proto gun
