Measuring the production of light hadrons in proton--proton collisions is crucial to understand both quark production and hadronisation at high energies. Hadron production ratios have been measured by LHCb at sqrt{s} = 0.9 and 7 TeV: the main analyses will be explained in detail and results will be presented showing information on baryon number transport and baryon over meson suppression.
