Past week: Tm with LIST for COLLAPS.
- Laser system stable most of the time:
- Only one intervention on sunday at 3am. Problem: stabilization of the first step. Revolved in 2h.
Current week: In-source spectroscopy of Pm
- Switch of the lasers performed yesterday.
- Target needs to be changed because of strong yield drop during Tm run, which would prevent us to go for the full physics program.
- New target being prepared and hopefully will be exchanged tomorrow morning or afternoon.
- In the meantime, some tests will be performed with the current target to check the setup and start on long-lifetime species. Pm laser beam observed an hour ago and being optimized now.
- Plan to go to IDS or tape station to get some yield on the current target to compare directly with the next.

Targets, Schedule and Physics 10mSpeakers: Hanne Heylen (CERN), Isabel Frank (CERN), Matthias Alexander Grasser, Simon Thomas Stegemann (CERN)
Physics
-
On HRS, neutron-deficient Tm beams were delivered to COLLAPS for laser spectroscopy measurements. This required a LIST target which is more complex to prepare and operate. Following earlier attempts, the goal was to measure ¹⁵⁰Tm and ¹⁵¹Tm. Yields appeared promising at the start of the run, but the target performance degraded over time. As a result, only data on ¹⁵¹Tm could be collected, with ¹⁵⁰Tm ultimately out of reach. Despite this, the users were relatively satisfied with the outcome.
-
On GPS, 7Li beams were sent to VITO in the beginning of W20 to test behaviour of such light beams when changing the mass, in preparation of a run in the beginning of June.
Schedule
- This week, due to degradation of LIST target, it was decided to replace it with a spare. There are some modifications in the weekly schedule because of this.
- GLM/GHM for IS715/LOI281 foreseen to start week is cancelled. Ideas for IDS.
- Draft until the end of August needs feedback from technical teams, I'll organise meeting
- Protons end 8/12, can we still continue a few days with winter physics (Low E)?
- Plan for stable beam HIE-ISOLDE circulated, do you want to discuss in a meeting?
Miniball
-
- Time: from Friday 30th May evening to Tuesday 3rd June morning
- Beam: 22Ne
- Intensity: between 5e6-1e7 pps (based on what is achievable; these numbers are from last year, so they should be realistic)
- Energy: 3.5 MeV/u
ISS
-
- Beam: 22Ne (the same as Miniball)
- Energy: 6 MeV/u (higher than Miniball)
- Intensity: 10^7 pps at ISS, or 10 epA at a charge state of 7+. We would be happy to take more if that is possible without a lot of optimization.
- Time: Tuesday, June 3rd, morning – June 10.
