- Update - Splitting of quad vacuum chambers in Periods 3, 4, 10, 13, 14 & 15
- https://trackit.cern.ch/track/121267
- ACTIONS:
- Periods 3, 4, 10, and 13 are feasible. Integration sees no issue with the proposal, apart from the small clearance between the clamps and the existing covers, which is already the case in period 2.
- Beam Operation has to decide whether replacing the diamond-shaped chamber with a round one is acceptable for them. This decision should be made within the coming week. If not, the chamber could remain diamond-shaped, but adding a bellow would introduce complications and reinforce the concept of a special, non-standard chamber in that part of the complex. VSC’s goal is to standardise as many chambers as possible across the complex.
- The situation in period 15 differs slightly, but modifying the covers and avoiding individual pieces would resolve the interference issue.
- Period 14 is on-hold until the removal of the Pick-ups is approved. In any case, the integration for the new proposal is done.
- The preferred approach would be to cut and reuse the existing chambers for the QDE and QFO. Only a new fixed flange would need to be welded on, which could be done in the Booster sous-sol. This approach was used for Period 5, although at that time the chamber was cut in only one position, whereas two cuts are now required. It seems new drawings would need to be created for these adapted chambers, although PSBVCQ__0021 should be suitable for the QFO. For the QDE, PSBVCQ__0022 could be adapted (from 1535 mm to a length of 1004 mm), or a completely new drawing could be created. However, new round chambers (SI.3.49.1653) would be required to fit inside the correctors/bumpers. As they are round, manufacturing should be relatively straightforward and could potentially be outsourced to reduce the workload of the CERN main workshop.

- Dismantling of BR.DHZ/DVT15L1 corrector stack
-
- Consolidation of BE.BSW (extraction bumper magnets)

- ACTIONS:
- The BSWs are not going to be replaced. The as-built version has been shared with Integration, and periods 14 and 15 now reflect the actual situation.
- This type of bumper is used only in periods 14 and 15.
- There are no magnet modifications planned on the PSB ring; they will be replaced like-for-like.
PS Ring LS3 Modifications
-
- Modification of the shielding in front of BHU88
- https://trackit.cern.ch/track/124002
- ACTIONS:
- The blocks will be replaced with T842-type elements, allowing sufficient clearance for the line of sight.
- Integration will contact SCE to verify whether the planned slab replacement will take place in the area of this integration, as the allowable load may change.
- BE-GM has already contacted HE, who are aware that the crane cannot reach this shielded area. They plan to use a gantry to transport the existing blocks and install the new ones, so both the block dimensions and the allowable load of the slabs are important.

- Isolde BTY line Power converters consolidation - Bdg 361
- https://trackit.cern.ch/track/119926
- ACTIONS:
- An on-site verification of the cable tray configuration beneath the false floor is required for the installation of the power converters.
- The clearance of 880 mm behind the converters is acceptable, and the installation can proceed. There is sufficient space to operate the power converters, and a similar configuration is already in place elsewhere.
- Demineralised water is needed for the new power converters. As the same type of power converters is already installed inside the room, a CV system should already be in place. However, it would be advisable to have the 3D model, as it is not currently included in the integration model.
- Transport has already been informed. Due to the absence of a crane, the installation of the power converter will require the use of specialised equipment, along with load distribution plates.
Update - BTY Modifications:
-
- BTY 2GeV Project
- https://trackit.cern.ch/track/112553
- ACTIONS:
- ABT will prepare a simple functional specification document to formally validate the angle through a brief approval process. This will allow the key integration aspects to be finalised and enable other teams to move forward.
- Once the angle has been officially validated:
- The protrusion on top of the SEM Grids tank will be removed.
- The dipole Y-chamber will retain the existing diameter of 76 mm.
- A 76 mm diameter transition vacuum chamber will be used, and beyond the SEM grid, a chamber with increased diameter will be installed.
- VSC indicated that, once the angle is defined, the subsequent activities should proceed smoothly.
- On the ISOLDE site, the new dipoles to be installed before and after the quadrupole must also be rotated by half the angle of the main dipoles. The vacuum chambers will need to be properly aligned using a transition piece.
- BE-GM has verified that the 834 gallery is lower than expected, and new measurements and calculations are required. They are in contact with ABT to define a new MAD-X sequence, as the existing theoretical one is no longer valid. This also implies that the Layout Database, as well as the integration skeleton, must be updated. BE-GM, SY-ABT, ACE-INT, and ACE-CL will remain in close contact to complete this task.
