Experimental Particle and Astro-Particle Physics Seminar

Description

Abstract: We have plenty of reasons to believe that new physics exists, with the question of "What is Dark Matter", being one of the arguably most pressing. In this talk we explore the idea that new physics may be rather light-weight, but extremely weakly coupled: The axion being a prime example of this idea. We present novel, competitive searches for such well-motivated particles that were enabled through opportunistic use of existing experiments and infrastructure: Recent results of the NA62 experiment and the RADES axion search are highlighted. Furthermore we detail on the strategy needed to extend these searches to their full discovery potential.
