Similarities between TT23/TT25 PCs and LSS4 bumpers requirements

Similarly to the discussions on LSS4 bumpers, the TT23 and TT25 PCs are not used during the SFTSHIP cycles.

For operations, these unused PCs should not be defined in the transfer function settings in LSA for the SFTSHIP users.

EPC must check the behaviour of the interlock when no settings are defined for a given user.

Interlocking thresholds

The tolerances provided by ABT must be absolute, they are a percentage of the nominal current.

Interlocking threshold can be non-PPM if and only if the FGC3 supports a variable threshold throughout the cycle.

ECO mode

The operators can use the ECO mode for given users when the PCs must not pulse. This could be used for the TT23/TT25 beam lines.

Non-PPM PCs

The PCs in BA81 and BA82 will not be renovated until LS4. For operations, it will be required to not pulse the unused power converters based on destination from the timing network. For example the H2/4/6/8 and M2 magnets must not pulse when destination is HIECN3. Similarly, the P42 PCs must not pulse when destination is FTARGET.

It is proposed to check if this would be possible on one magnet in the P42 beam line.

Conclusions

Provided that the FGC3 can support multiple interlocking thresholds throughout the cycle, and the regulation interlock user permit is TRUE when no LSA settings are defined:

  • OP will not declare LSA settings for the unused power converters
  • ABT will provide absolute tolerances for these PCs
  • EPC will provide continuous regulation interlock that guarantees that the PC is correctly regulating regardless of the cycle

Actions:

David: check the behaviour of the PC interlocks when no LSA settings are defined for a given user.

ABT/OP/MPE: update the EPC requirements for interlocking document EDMS 3253361

Power converters in TT23/TT25 on SHIP cycles

How to force PCs in TT23/TT25 to Imin on SHIP cycles:
      - Particle transfer to include TT23 and TT25 power converters in SFTSHIP cycles
      - Use PPM economy mode on the TT23 and TT25 power converters
      - others?
