A new approach to long-term symplectic tracking in realistic 3D electromagnetic fields and its applications 1h

      Abstract:
The algorithm called SIMPA is presented. It has a new and unique approach to long-term tracking of charged particles in arbitrary static electromagnetic fields. It is relevant to beam dynamics and optics studies whenever the usual hard-edge model cannot describe the accelerator elements accurately or the beamline contains complex magnetic or electric fields. Such a situation arises in the ELENA machine containing an electron cooler or in the extraction line.
Frequency analysis and dynamics aperture studies in ELENA along with ejection line studies are presented.

      Speaker: Lajos Bojtar (CERN)
