      Discussion
      • BGI is discussed by zoom with BI, EPC, and MSC. Current proposition from MSC (Dominique) fits the current available and seems rather optimized, since using 4x LHC600A-40V, available from BBLR converters being dismantled in LS3, and 4x [125A 125V] from EPC, currently installed in LHC (but not used for LHC BGI).
      • EPC Indicates:
        • For LHC600-40V: in LS3, work is to move converters pt 1 and pt 5 to pt 4, and to connect them to services (water, Worldfip, AC, DC, WIC)
        • For [125V 125A], remove them (potentially in YETS 2025-2026) to upgrade them in surface (new electronics), and to reinstall them during LS3
        • It is not entirely clear where all the converters will be finally installed for HL-LHC BGI. It is currently assumed [125V; 125A] won't move, and LHC600A-40V will be installed close to them
        • It is understood from MSC that DC Cables are already in place and compatible with HL-LHC BGI powering (requiring 2 pairs of cables per system).
      • ECR is discussed (will be required), and may be under the responsibility of Gunn (BI), with inputs from EPC on converters.
      • WIC / PIC is discussed as well and will need some attention.
      • EPC insists on fact LHC BBLR converters must be free (BBLR to be stopped as they are today, so that the 4x LHC600A-40V can be used for BGI). Email from Adriana below, received after this meeting clarifies this point.
      • Regarding budget, EPC will use the BC 64012 HL_LHC_BGI (Resp. SY/BI) for any EPC work.

Objet: Email agreement to confirm availability of BBLR power converters for HL-LHC BGI after LS3
      Date: 20/06/2025 12:01:51

      Dear all,

As discussed with some of you already, I would like to confirm that the 4 BBLR power converters (600Ax40V) currently installed in UL14 and UL16 in P1 and USC55 in P5, will be removed during LS3 and become available for the BGI at HL-LHC.

      With kind regards,

Adriana for the BBWC (Beam Beam Long Range Wire Compensator) team
