Update on CAD modelling & engineering design:

  • Model updated with new conductor geometry and new pole geometry.
  • Nicolas showed the design of the pole slots and pins.
  • As decided, the gaps in the pole (inner and outer) and tooling (pole vs tooling) are staggered (not aligned with the segmentation).
  • Drawings (reacted coil, winding tool & reaction tool) will be ready before the end of the week for signature. It will be signed ASAP.
  • ACTION ITEMS:
    • Add M8 threaded holes, at least one per pole segment, in case we need it later for lifting.
    • N. Lusa will take care of all ancillary components needed for the coil and winding (pins, etc).
    • Ariel will take care of all ancillary tooling components for winding (fiber layers, MICA, screws, etc).
    • P. Moyret will take care of all machined components.
    • Next steps for CAD (before switching to structure):
      • N. Peray:
        • Impregnation tooling 
        • Splicing tooling
      • M. Canale:
        • Integration of winding in winding machine (2 days work missing approx.)
        • Sarcophagus (2 days work missing approx.)

 

Update on ANSYS 2D results:

  • Model updated with the new yoke geometry from Matthieu
  • Yoke design goes beyond the limits during bladders and after room temperature assembly
    • ACTION ITEMS
      • Make thicker pad (yoke will be thinner)
      • Change bladder size for the large one in the Hpad. We need to make it smaller in order to allow more size for the key.
        • Check which bladder size we can use
      • Put the bladders in the pads
      • Keep the vertical bladder where it is (As SD from LBNL)

 

Update on mock-ups:

  • Update on the mock-up status.
  • The oven for DIC measurements is not available in short term. We will react the mock-up in our oven.
    • Nico L. to check if the finger is in Titanium or in SS.
  • Tests on-going on for improving the cable support in the gap regions. "Accordeon type" shims. Laser cutting capabilities in main workshop

    • 3 mm copper
