Description

Common MADMAX - RADES collaboration meeting on Ringberg castle

Picture: MADMAX and RADES collaborations at Ringberg castle.

The venue

Built by Luitpold Emanuel Ludwig Maria, Duke in Bavaria (1890-1973). Like his famous relative, King Ludwig II, the Duke was obsessed with building fantastical structures. Indeed,
Ludwig's Schloss Neuschwanstein inspired Schloss Ringberg. The Duke dedicated his life to building the castle.
After the Duke's death in 1973 the castle passed into the
hands of the Max Planck Society, more info at  https://www.schloss-ringberg.de/home

Registration

Please register as soon as possible but before 15th of August 2025 as we have to organize and fix the accommodation.

Accomodation

Note that there is a maximum of 70 participants allowed on the castle. Also, on the castle the number of rooms is limited, thus some colleagues will likely have to go to a hotel nearby (transport between hotel and castle in the morning and the evening will be organized). Colleagues that are willing to share a room should indicate this in the registration form - the more people are willing, the more can stay on the castle! The organization committee will distribute the rooms.

Note that if there are more than 70 registrations the organization committee will have to decide on your participation. This may be especially the case for late registrations.

Workshop fee

The fee for the collaboration meeting is EUR 500,- and it includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee breaks and transfer by bus from and to Munich center to and from Ringberg castle.

Before paying the fee, please make sure that you have received confirmation of your participation from the organization committee. Please make sure the money is transferred to the account below by September 15 2025. Note that your registration is only fully completed once we received the payment!
In the payment, please indicate the name of the participant(s) and also add "Kostenstelle K1085" in the transfer description.

If you have special requests concerning the payment confirmations (tax number of the home institute or something else) you have to let us know!

We expect participants to arrive to Ringberg castle on Sunday evening.
Note that the fee is independent of the length of your stay.

Payment confirmation will be handed out during registration.

Getting there

We booked a bus that can transport 49 persons to the castle and back. Departure is planned for 15:30 at ZOB Arnulfstraße 21, 80335 München, S-Bahn station Hackerbrücke.

With the S-Bahn it takes approximately 40 60 minutes from the airport to Hackerbrücke with either the S1 or the S8, departure from Munich Airport every 10 minutes. (please note increased travel time from Airport to Hackerbrücke on a Sunday. Instead of 40min as previously advertised, this is closer to 60min as S1/S8 run less frequently)

Please do check also the option to take a Bus from the airport downtown
https://www.airportbus-muenchen.de
which is reasonably fast.

From Munich Hauptbahnhof to Hackerbrücke it is only 1 stop with the S-Bahn.

On Wednesday, 22.10.  the bus will leave Ringberg castle at 14:00. Estimated arrival time at ZOB Hackerbrücke is 15:30.

Another option is to take the train (BOB) from Munich central station to Tegernsee and then take a taxi to the castle (approx. 30€).
