      Last Week

      • Separation of Ra-223 from 1st batch Indian ThC (#887M)
        • 43.5 MBq collected
        • No other radiochemical contaminants found in gamma-spec
      • Continued with Ra-224/225 double collection over weekend
        • Heating ramp again did not finish and software crashed on both MEDICIS CWO computers.
      • Target presence switch caused target and Frontend vacuum trips over weekend and tuesday

      This Week

      • Outgassing of 2nd batch Indian ThC (896M) for testing and collections
      • Mass scan MD
        • Data gathering Use NEW mass scan at 3 speeds: slow 0.03 amu, medium 0.05 amu, and fast 0,07 amu to check mass alignment.
      • Open collection chamber shielding to access Kromek detector and test collimators - Wednesday morning.
      • Separation of Ra-224/225 double collection from FLUKA charge (#880M)
        • Irradiation might risky for shipment samples - more updates tomorrow
        • Ideally would need around or >1E+18 PoT direct
      • Ra/Ac225 radiochemistry with HUG in Glovebox Thursday morning

      Physics

      • At GPS, the HIE-ISOLDE run continued involving a post-accelerated ²²⁹Ac beam on a deuterium target at ISS. However, based on the observed intensity and contamination of the ²²⁹Ac beam, the team decided to switch to plan B: using ²³²U. This allowed them to demonstrate the setup’s functionality, collect data for a technical paper for the PhD students, and obtain the necessary input to evaluate what would be required to make a future ²²⁹Ac run feasible after LS3. Despite several issues, they managed to get sufficient data for these purposes.
      • On HRS, CRIS took 1 night of beam to test their new tapestation, which went well.
