In this informal seminar we explore the connections between axions and generalized symmetries. In particular, this includes mixed anomalies between the axion shift symmetry and center 1-form symmetries of non-Abelian gauge theories that can have interesting implications for the axion-photon coupling. Beyond that theories with axions have various non-invertible symmetries which we will briefly discuss.
