Last week: End of Cd run

      No intervention necessary.

      This week: Sn run

Lasers ready and optimized yesterday. Beam to Machine supervisor beginning of the afternoon.

      Run until next monday

      Next week:

      - Preparation of the In for CRIS will start on Monday.

      - 3D scan of the ISCOOL.

      Other :

      - One of our laser was sent to repair a month ago. After failure to fix in Europe, the laser was sent back to the mother company in the US, which will take time. The company is offering a 3xmore powerful laser in the meantime. We are in discussion to determine if this is a good idea as this requires dump capabilities and probably cooled down beam dumps. However, this laser will be necessary for the Ni runtime.

      Physics

      • On GPS, the goal was to send post-accelerated 226Rn beams to a traveling setup on the third HIE-ISOLDE beam line to study fission barrier heights in exotic neutron-rich nuclei. After the issues with the production of the beam from several targets, it was decided to go to a different isotope 226Fr still allowing to study the same physics case. Despite problems and last minute change of plans, the beam could be delivered still on Friday evening and the experiment went finally relatively smooth with good data obtained. It was a major effort by the machine supervisors and the target team, who ensured that the experiment could still go ahead. Their dedication was greatly appreciated by the users, and it truly highlights how fortunate ISOLDE is to have such a knowledgeable and committed team.

      Schedule
