CHART 2025-2028: FCC-ee Injector coordination meeting #1

Organization

Some questions were raised regarding how the CHART/FCC-ee injector activities will be integrated within the broader FCC-ee project.This aspect will be clarified by CERN in the coming weeks.

WP2

  • This WP will deal with the polarized electron source, provided that this topic is included in the injector scope.
  • Action: T. Lucas will organize the kick-off meeting in next weeks.

 

WP3

  • The definition of the operating frequency has been postponed, as the group will focus on optimizing the acceptance in the DR using 2 GHz positron linac start-to-end simulations.
  • Deliverable D3.1: This activity must proceed in parallel with the design of the positron source (capture and separation chicane), since charge losses in this part are unavoidable and must be taken into account in the optimization of the capture system.

 

WP4

  • Action: Antonio will organize a series of joint WP3–WP4 meetings, to be held every two weeks, to discuss progress and define next steps.
  • WP3 will continue holding its internal meetings independently.
  • The design of the HE linac requires knowledge of the trajectory jitter induced by the extraction systems from the DR.
    This parameter is difficult to estimate until the DR design is finalized.
    For the time being, the jitter values from the CLIC DR extraction system will be used as reference.

 

WP5

  • The injector siting meetings are on hold until the design of the DR and transfer lines is available.
  • The concept and distinction between the Physics Requirements Document and the Functional Specifications Document need to be clarified.
    Simone and Wolfgang will send Paolo some examples from CERN.
  • Paolo suggested starting with the specifications document for the HE linac quadrupoles, which can serve as a template.
  • All documents will be uploaded to the database that CERN is currently preparing for the FCC project, and they will serve as reference examples during this initial phase.
