3 CMS Operations Report

Speaker: Katy Ellis (Science and Technology Facilities Council STFC (GB))

Possible 'network glitch' reported on Tuesday turned out to be global - an issue with IPv4 network at CERN.

Smooth running for CMS. Very good job efficiency relative to other CMS T1s. Long job read times for Merge jobs fixed (again, for a third time) by Tier 0 operator. 

CMS Tier 0 operator also mentioned that 'Tier 0 data' including RAW and AOD will now come to RAL tape due to shortage at FNAL. 

4 LHCb Operations Report

Operational issues:

• A few spikes of failed jobs/pilots due to LHCb problems, not our fault
  • Problems with transformation DB last Friday -> spike of failed jobs
  • Problems with CS -> spike of failed pilots on Monday morning
  • Buggy WGProductions
• small spike of upload failures form RAL WNs to ECHO this morning
  • Errors are network related, and it coincides with network maintenance window

5 ALICE Operations Report

6 LSST Operations Report

Speakers: Mathew Sims, Timothy Noble (Science and Technology Facilities Council STFC (GB))

• Site functioning well with small config changes on our side to provide extra monitoring back at the US side.
• Mat will stop working with LSST on Friday - New Graduate will take some LSST work (Chris Winterburn)
• Storage split between DRP and DAC - DAC is claiming to need around 1PB, currently we have 10 PB for LSST in the SRR - 
  • Is this correct? I thought we were to only have 4PB for now
  • DAC is currently not accounted for in terms of funding - discussion between T1 and storage and LSST project manager
• Some access issues for me to USDF preventing some monitoring updates - being looked into
