Salient Points:

• The students program. The student application process is on-going until Jan 15, 2026. Kenyan and international students need to apply through the application portal and go through the selection process. The number of students selected and the ratio of international to local students will depend on the budget. We suggest that the LOC distributes the application portal widely within Kenya to encourage all eligible students to apply. The student program will run for the full 2 weeks of July 5-19, 2026.
• The high school teachers training. The teachers should be selected nationally by the appropriate Kenyan authorities and the LOC. They may launch a call for applications or identify the teachers by other internal criteria. The IOC does not get involved with the selection of teachers. We expect about 80 teachers selected nationally for a one-week training in the week of July 6-10, 2026.
• The high school learners program. We can cover up to 40 high schools in the vicinity of the venue, with about 50 learners selected from each participating school. That would be about 2000 learners for a week program. The participating high schools and the selection of the learners should be at the discretion of the region educational authorities and the LOC. This will be a 5-day program in the period of July 13-17, 2026. 
• Action: The IOC will send to the LOC the details of the teachers and high schools programs of a past event. The LOC will come up with a proposal of how to best arrange / organize these events.
• Local funding will be shared to cover the teachers and learners programs, as well as the Kenyan students attending the university students program.
• Action: The LOC will form sub-committees to deal with the teachers and learners programs, by contacting the proper authorities to obtain authorizations, identifying and selecting the teachers, identifying the participating high schools, and raising funds and in-kind support for these programs.
• The Poster: it should be improved with the following modifications and additions.
  • Make it 2 pages and move the committees to the 2nd page
  • Add diverse and varied pictures representative of all of Kenya
  • Establish consistency in the fonts
  • Improve contrast and style
  • We will share the poster with the rest of the IOC, and there may be other comments
  • The LOC will share the updated poster as soon as available, hopefully before the next meeting
  • Action: We should finalize the poster by December so that it may be used to raise the profile of the event and also raise funds.
• Action: The LOC will send the update of the LOC composition in institutes and email addresses
• IOC will share the timeline of activities leading the event. This will help us stay on schedule.
