CMS underground visits for IT

As every year, Maarten and Panos are organizing two CMS underground visits for colleagues in the IT Department.

Visit slots for 2025:

• Tuesday, 9 December 2025 — 13:30–14:30

• Wednesday, 10 December 2025 — 13:30–14:30

Each visit is limited to 24 participants, in accordance with CMS visit service guidelines.
Please register using the form below. Registration is restricted to IT Department staff only.

Please note that we cannot accommodate family members, friends, or external guests.
Access to the CMS underground area is strictly regulated, and our visit slots are limited to IT staff due to capacity constraints.

To help us organize transport to the CMS cavern (approximately 25 minutes from Meyrin), the registration form includes options to indicate whether you can offer car spaces or if you need a ride.

We also ask you to specify whether you have visited CMS before, as we aim to give priority to colleagues who have not yet had the opportunity to see the experiment up close.

Important safety notes: individuals with active medical implants or over 6 months pregnant are not allowed to go underground and must therefore not register for these visits. Please contact us for separate arrangements instead. People suffering from claustrophobia might prefer not to register, as underground areas can feel somewhat confined. The elevator ride takes less than a minute, though.

You will receive a confirmation email once allocations are finalized, together with practical information about meeting points and logistics for the day.
