1. Camera Array Installation (Spectrometer Scintillator Screen)

  • Camera distances: Keep approximately the current setup: cameras ~1.2 m from the screen, viewing from 30° below.

  • High-resolution camera: Will remain ~0.2 m from the screen on a translation stage.

  • Spectrometer camera array: Mounting on a breadboard attached to the support structure (as suggested) is preferred. Other options (e.g., sending light down with a mirror) will be considered, but dust concerns make this proposal most suitable.

  • OSR port: A breadboard with an opening to route light downward, as suggested, should work. The OSR team will refine the optics and light path (~1–2 m total), which will not fit on the small in-plane breadboard before the laser mirror tank.

Actions:

  • MT to update and discuss with Edu

  • MT to share a top view of the area with the OSR team

    • after that: OSR team to reserve breadboard space in the tunnel

2. OSR Viewport

  • DN63 flange sticking out preferred, since imaging location will be ~2.5 m upstream. This is currently the baseline.

Actions:

  • MT to check with Nicolas if the port is perpendicular to the light path (line starting at the beginning of the magnet)

  • MT to launch approval of the dipole vacuum chamber drawing

  • All to check the drawing carefully and provide comments

  • MT to check with Nicolas if the chamber is additionally secured (e.g., to the sides of the magnet)

  • Reference drawing: Previous chamber (until AWAKE Run 2b)

  • DC to share draft of the specification document
  • DC to finalize specification document and launch approval procedure

3. Other

  • Position of the spectrometer dipole magnet has been finalised
  • There is a solution that allows a 2m gap from the plasma exit to the beginning of the magnetic field of the first spectrometer quad.
    • However, if we can increase this distance it would be preferred to add an alignment screen and reuse the laser beam dump.
    • DC has done calculations on this --> Action: DC to present results at a further meeting

3. Follow-up from Previous Meeting Actions

  • Joe and others have not yet received simulation input from John to check the emittance diagnostics

Action:

  • MT and EG to check with John

Next meeting on the 14th of January.
